The Dell M3800 Precision laptop is quickly becoming a must-have tool for our traveling social multimedia teams. This workhorse not only has some powerful equipment under the hood, but it's slim form factor and touch screen is easy and fun to travel with.
We took our new toy to New York last week to broadcast a think tank for the Empowering Women and Girls Challenge. Watch the embedded video to see how that looked. The M3800 was paired with the ATEM Television Studio switcher to control the livestream. It not only performed flawlessly, but several people came up to check it out after noticing that it has a touch screen. We're just getting to know everything this machine can do, but it's already solving a lot of problems for Fit To Tweet.
One of the biggest challenges we face at Fit To Tweet is fitting all of the gear necessary to do our job into the standard allotment of checked bags and carry ons. Clients are often amazed to see how small our footprint is, especially when we're providing something as complex as a multiple camera switched feed livestream. Dell Precision laptops have often been a favorite for us, because those machines can pack a tremendous amount of processing power into a small box. We use every bit of that power when livestreaming HD video, editing motion graphics and much more. The only drawback is the size and weight. The Dell M4700 has been our favorite machine for a lot of that work. Now the M3800 promises to do a lot of the same work and save us a lot of space and weight in our bags. To us that's gold!
Stay tuned as well continue to test out the new M3800 in the coming weeks, especially once we install Adobe Premiere and After Effects.
